2016 Preview
As I mentioned in my “What’s Next . . .?” blog, my 2016 list has a lot of “do-overs” from the 2015 list never got posted and are still in my note pad waiting to get finalized – so much to do, so little time . . .
What’s in the Background?
I was playing around with some blog topics in 2013 (America Part 2, 3, and 4, link is below) that are similar in content but dissimilar in tone to one that I’m working on for 2016. In the two and a half years since I wrote that blog, my thinking has changed about the political climate in this country and about how important it is for everyone to get involved, including me.

What is Activism?
Merriam-Webster says: “a doctrine or practice that emphasizes direct vigorous action especially in support of or opposition to one side of a controversial issue.” Be sure you read the definition of action (link). So an “activist” would be a person who . . . I’ll let you fill in the rest. As a side note, it’s interesting that I read the profile of someone the other day, a political activist (not someone really famous whose name you would instantly recognize). At the time I thought, doesn’t that person have anything better to do. As I mentioned, my thinking has changed on the whole subject of activism.
What is Politics?
I think it is important to understand what the term politics means and how it applies in our society so I’m including it here. Thanks to Merriam-Webster for the definition.
Here are two topics that I’m working on in 2016, one is new and the other a continuation of my 2015 blogs.
Take Back America
Howard Beale was “mad as hell, and I’m not going to take it anymore” in the movie “Network” (1974), a satire about the news industry. If you google “Take Back America”, you will see that it is a very popular concept. As an example, here is a web site. Thanks to the author.
Mindfulness
This is a continuation of a 2015 post. Still researching this interesting concept.
BTO: Takin’ Care of Business
One final item that you might find interesting.
Declaration of Independence
How often do we read this document? Here’s your chance – it’s actually short compared to the Constitution. You might want to focus in on the long second paragraph, something about “Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed” . . . etc.
